Demak Timber is Taking on The March Charge—Again!

At Demak Timber, we know the power of teamwork. Whether it’s helping our customers with the right timber for their projects or rallying together for a cause that matters—we’re always up for a challenge.

That’s why, for the second year in a row, we’re taking on The March Charge with the Cancer Council, pushing ourselves to walk, run, and move throughout March to raise funds for life-saving cancer research.

Why Are We Charging?

Cancer affects too many of us. We’ve all had family, friends, or colleagues touched by it, and we believe in doing something that makes a difference. Last year, we saw the impact this challenge can have, so we’re stepping up again—stronger and more determined than ever.

Charging for Daniel – The ‘D’ in Demak

This year, The March Charge isn’t just about raising money—it’s about honouring Daniel, one of the founders of Demak and the ‘D’ in Demak.

Daniel wasn’t just a boss—he was the heart of our team. A leader, a mentor, and a mate who made work feel like family. He thrived on helping others succeed, celebrating every win, and pushing those around him to be their best—whether that was in business, in life, or in taking on a ridiculous challenge for a good cause.

In 2022, Daniel was diagnosed with cancer—initially lymphoma, later identified as CUP (Cancer of Unknown Primary). Despite fighting with everything he had, we heartbreakingly lost him in September 2023, at just 45 years old.

If he were here, we know he’d be all in for The March Charge—talking smack, pushing the team to go harder, and making sure we all had a laugh along the way. The hardest part of this challenge isn’t the kilometres, the aching legs, or the early morning runs—it’s doing it without him.

So, we charge for Daniel.

For his legacy. For his family. For the fight against cancer that took him too soon.

And we hope, wherever he is, he’s watching on—laughing at our struggle, cheering us on, and maybe, just maybe, feeling a little proud.

Each of us have set our own personal kilometre goal to complete by the end of March. Whether it’s long-distance running, daily walking, or squeezing in extra steps wherever possible, we’re all pushing ourselves to go the distance for Daniel—and for anyone affected by cancer.
