Why use a steel post support instead of putting timber in the ground?
Unless the timber has been treated and certified for in-ground use, it can not be used without a post support. A steel post support will eliminate the problem of the post rotting, as it raises the post above the ground. This prevents water pooling and seepage. It also creates a less attractive environment for termites, and can be visually inspected for such activity.
