Description
How do I fix a Capital to my Post?
The traditional method was to use a bit of timber dowel, or sometimes the capital would have a turned bit sticking out at the bottom. This would cause the timber to rot more quickly over time.
Double Ended Zinc Screws
A much easier, and more permanent solution is to use these double ended screws.
- Simply drill a 7mm hole in the Capital and in the end of the post.
- With a pair of vice grips, set the double ended screw into the post halfway.
- Apply construction adhesive to the base of the capital.
- Turn the capital onto the other end of the double ended screw.
